ERI has an exciting opportunity for a Ceramics Manufacturing Engineer at the San Leandro, CA. facility to help qualify, scale up, and optimize production processes at our brand new ceramics manufacturing plant.  This is a great opportunity for helping ERI establish world class processes using both new and state of the art ceramic manufacturing and laboratory equipment.  This key team member will help the ceramics division achieve plant manufacturing profitability, quality, on-time performance, and customer satisfaction. This is a very “hands on” position.
Key responsibilities:
  • Assist with start up and commissioning of production ceramic processing equipment.
  • Perform production planning, kiln/Spray dryer scheduling, and raw materials through the product control system.
  • Implement operational excellence in Ceramics through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Work closely with PX Product Development and ERI Materials Scientists to make the product quality can be maintained while manufacturing costs are reduced. 
  • Identify equipment needs and implement effective preventive maintenance schedules. This includes periodic gas kilns, spray dryers, ball mills, and io-static presses.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Other duties commensurate with a Manufacturing Engineer position.
  • Lead by example and believe in personal accountability.
  • Be comfortable in a fast paced, deadline oriented business environment.
  • Ensure that Calibration of key laboratory and production monitoring equipment is conducted on a regular and prudent basis
Experience:
·         BS in Ceramics, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for an exceptionally experienced candidate.
·         5-10 years experience in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment.
·         Solid experience with ceramic manufacturing processes such as spray drying, cold iso-static pressing, and the operation of gas fired periodic kilns. 
·         Experience with process capability analysis and optimization using statistical process control tools.
·         Experience with production staff task supervision.
·         Experience with Made2Manage or similar ERP system.
·         Experience with SCADA systems used to monitor thermal processing equipment performance.
  • Ability to analyze production and quality data and produce clear reports highlighting issues and proposing solutions.
  • Prefer 5+ years manufacturing experience
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team oriented environment.
