Energy Recovery, Inc. (ERI) is a California-based company that has developed and commercialized new, patented technologies that are radically lowering the cost of producing fresh water from seawater. ERI’s primary product, the PX Pressure Exchanger device, recovers energy from the reject stream from a seawater reverse osmosis desalination system at up to 98% efficiency. Established in 1992, ERI’s patented breakthrough technology and experienced technical team have made ERI a leader in the energy recovery market and a catalyst for growth in the global desalination industry.
ERI has an immediate opening for a talented, energetic Senior Mechanical Design Engineer based in their San Leandro, CA facility. This Engineer will be responsible for the development of new generations of ERI's PX pressure exchanger devices as well as new products based on ERI's ceramic technologies. This position will oversee the full gamut of product development including concept generation, design, simulation, prototyping and testing, field testing, and release to manufacturing.
This position will have a high level of visibility within the company and will report directly to the Director of Engineering.
Key responsibilities:
· Design refinements on our current as well as new generations of ERI's products.
· Conduct calculations, simulations, and design experiments in support of product design.
· Initiate, monitor, and control development projects using project monitoring tools.
· Work with new and existing vendors to qualify their processes and new designs.
· Create and review product documentation and engineering procedures.
Background, Skills and Education:
· A bachelors or master of science in mechanical engineering
· A minimum of 8 years experience performing mechanical design and analysis or similar in an industrial product environment
· Highly proficient in creating parts, assemblies and layout drawings with SolidWorks and the PDMWorks environment.
· Proficient in performing advanced engineering analysis and calculations including applying FEA and ideally CFD software to design problems.
· Should be very comfortable applying GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing
· Experience in any of these fields a definite plus: Positive Displacement Pumps, Technical Ceramics, Hydraulic or Water Process Equipment, Rotating Equipment.
