Plant Manager (located in New Boston, Michigan)

ERI has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Manager, at our Pump Engineering facility, located in New Boston Michigan just south of Detroit.  The Plant Manager will plan, guide and direct the production operations of our high quality manufacturing facility to achieve plant manufacturing objectives for safety, growth, profitability, quality, on-time performance, and customer satisfaction. Pump Engineering designs and manufactures high pressure pumps and centrifugal turbine equipment used in the desalination industry. This is a very “hands on” position.
Key responsibilities:
  • Lead all Plant operations, assembly, machining, quality control, manufacturing engineering, production planning, procurement and logistics.
  •  Ensure customer satisfaction with product quality and by achieving on-time delivery performance objectives.
  • Manage the annual operating plan and drive profitability through achievement of labor and material productivity objectives
  • Oversee production planning, facilitate production meetings and ensure work scheduled through the product control system is in alignment with the sales forecast.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes.
  • Coordinates production operations with shipping, scheduling and inventory management by reviewing reports and operations as required.
  • Work closely with Product Development to make the product easier to produce.
  • Recruit, train and supervise manufacturing workforce, including skilled trades. 
  • Manage performance evaluations, and determine disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Maintain positive employee relationships and communications with workforce to support a work culture of high employee engagement.
  • Manage overall shipping & receiving functions.
  • Direct plant operations in a safe, effective and environmentally responsible manner. Achieving designated safety level index objectives.
  • Identify equipment needs and implement effective preventive maintenance schedules.
  •  Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Other duties commensurate with a Plant Manager position.
  • Lead by example and believe in personal accountability.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be comfortable in a fast paced, deadline oriented business environment.
Experience:
·         BS in an applicable technical field. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for an exceptionally experienced candidate.
·         A proven track records in leading manufacturing in a matrix environment at a divisional level.
·         5-10 years experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
·         Solid experience with manufacturing processes including manual and CNC  machining, materials and production control, manufacturing engineering, financial planning/controls and staff supervision
·         Experience with Made2Manage or similar ERP system.
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, and professionally grow employees in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to analyze production and quality data and produce clear reports highlighting issues and proposing solutions.
  • International vendor coordination experience
  • Prefer 5+ years manufacturing machine shop experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
