ERI® Triples Sales to Become World's Largest SWRO ERD Manufacturer

Acceptance of the ERI PX® into the desalination industry has been dramatic. Over the last five years ERI's annual sales have grown ten-fold, as the PX® has become the industry standard energy recovery solution. And more recently in 2005, the company tripled its sales, with recent expansion of its Technical Center in Florida and office in Spain, making the company the world's largest maker of energy recovery devices (ERD's) for SWRO plants.

Large and small to medium SWRO plants around the globe are recognizing ERI as the industry leader in ERD devices along with providing the most energy cost savings in the market -reducing power costs by up to 60%.

ERI PX® devices deliver guaranteed transfer efficiencies up to 98% range, and because they maintain their high efficiency within a broad flow and pressure range, ERI clients get the energy savings they paid for - EVERY TIME.

PX® device capacity sold since 1997 exceeds 5.2 million m³/day. In fact, large PX® trains are under construction in Australia, Algeria, UAE and Spain that promises to increase power savings to 500 MW.

By making it economically possible to obtain an abundant supply of fresh water from the world's oceans, ERI has proudly become a key part of making the age-old dream of world-wide, affordable water a reality.

Retrofit Now and Save Money

Saving You MORE Energy and Money

We believe there is a no more interesting challenge than helping our clients realize major savings by retrofitting their existing plants with PX® technology. ERI can guarantee higher energy efficiencies and costs savings. We have retrofitted dozens of plants worldwide previously equipped with Peltons, turbochargers, Frances turbines, and other pressure exchanger devices, and plants with no energy recovery devices.

In fact, we have found that plant operators have replaced ERDs, such as their turbochargers with the more efficient PX® devices, have quickly paid for the changeout with energy savings. For example:

  • Club Lanzarote and Bonny plants in the Canary Islands reduced consumption from 5.0 to 2.6 kWh/m3 and by 48%, respectively, by retrofitting turbochargers with PX® technology
  • The Mazarron, Spain reduced consumption by 0.6 kWh/m3 from its best performance with a turbocharger.

Also, when two installations in Curacao experienced a reduction in turbocharger efficiency to less than 10% after fresh water incursion changed recovery rate, retrofit with PX® technology cut energy consumption by over 40%.

Examples of other results PX® efficiencies have provided include the following:

  1. Major BOOT operator in the Caribbean saves over $1.2 million per year in energy and maintenance cost after retrofitting Pelton plants and adopting PX® technology.
  2. Major BOOT operator in a Mediterranean island saves over €150,000 per month after retrofitting Francis turbines with PX® technology.
  3. Many installations around the world have increased their plants capacity by up to 3 times without any significant additional power requirements.

We encourage you to read the papers below and then contact us so that we can show you how you can enjoy major reductions in your monthly power bill by adopting PX® technology in your SWRO installation.
